PRESIDENTS UPDATE - May 2026

Rugby team huddling in middle of the field

Hi all,

We are now 5 rounds into the season and our teams are proudly representing the green, black and white across all grades.

Our premier teams across men and women are undefeated and sitting on top of the ladder. We are on top of the ladder in 3rd grade and in the final mix for 2s and 4s. It’s a credit to our coaches, managers and medical staff that we continue to put so many teams on the pitch and are competitive across all grades.

This year’s Dewar Shield is a new structure with 10 teams entered and after 9 rounds it gets split into Dewar (1st division) and Ward (2nd division) with one more round then played against those 4 clubs. However results are based on first and second grade. We are currently sitting tied 1st with Harlequins. We have 4 matches remaining to determine which division we will be in.

With our fields unavailable post the Grand Prix we have played home games at our junior club in Altona and at Racing Club in Moorabbin. Thank you to both those junior clubs for hosting us and we are very keen to forge closer relationships to provide pathways to all the talented juniors at these clubs.

For those who have been at Albert Park recently you would have seen all the infrastructure works going on with the pit building being replaced. We are now back on our fields for training and in good news we have secured changing rooms from our friends at Sth Melbourne Football Club. This will allow us to host home games at Albert Park whilst our new pavilion is being constructed.

Speaking of the new pavilion do yourself a favour and head down to Albert Park. Our brand new club rooms have been delivered on site and it’s wonderful to see our long held dream coming to life. There is still some work to be done but we are confident of confirming the date for the grand opening in coming weeks. This will be a culmination of years of hard work from a lot of people and we will be ensuring we open the Stan Bisset Pavilion in style.

In the Dewar Shield we have a tough run of games coming up starting with our neighbours Melbourne. Get down to Orrong Road to support our Power House teams across 4 grades as we take on our old rivals.

We appreciate all your support and if you haven’t yet jump on our website for information about becoming a Coronet or social member.
